What to do and how to know. One example for today. This is a quite common accurance among the new and the young graphic designers although the more you gain experience the easier you are able to pinpoint such a client before he attacks and therefore you have the ability to reduce damage.
key sign:
client will say “I know exactly what I want”
This is one of the most common sign of all .If he knows what he wants than what he is really saying is “I am a designer too. maybe you can do the technical work for me.” Now, everyone is different but most designers I know, dont like to be the technical man. They like to be creative to make people say “WOA….you did that?!” Amazing” How did you….”
So come on designers if this ever happens to you:It is not a difficult task - the most important thing to do when receiving a project is to first do some good research on the subject . Today with the internet “research” has never been so easy . today we just call that “search” .When you are confident about what you are doing - so will you client be with your decisions -and you can convince him of pretty much anything. Sometimes clients need convincing that what you are doing is better than what they had dreamed of. good luck on your next client.
Hiya,
I think I’ve got the perfect reading tip for people who’re interested in deeper knowledge for this subject
Read: Don’t make me think, by Steve Krug.
It really helped me get my job.
It’s often called doing the grunt work of execution of conceptual ideas.
I used to be a designer, I’m now the client. I’ll give them a brief - and a little bit of rope and we’ll go from there.
Thank You
